With the change in the weather you may notice it differs weekly, sometimes day to day.  Dress according to the day, as these constant changes can bring about illnesses that you don't want with the up and coming holidays.  Help yourself by doing some of the following:  a glass of orange juice in the morning for your vitamin c; eat breakfast, or for those who don't "do" breakfast, something as simple as a bagel and a piece of fruit or a breakfast bar.  Have a cup of green tea at some point in the day.  Eat some vegetables, they are very important as they give you many vitamins and help with various health issues.

Wheh! Is it hot or is it just me?  The humidity and temperature have decided to come together and it is burning up outside.  Please keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water, gatorade, powerade.  It is very important that you don't become dehydrated while walking around outside or working outside.  Stay in the shade as much as you can and if you don't have to come outside, stay indoors until the sun goes down.  STAY COOL!!!

Today is Friday, lets go thru the refrigerator and throw out all old food, salad dressings, etc.  Check expiration dates and check foods for mold.  By doing this you rid yourself of foods that could possibly make you sick; it also cleans out the refrigerator to keep spoiled foods from contaminating the foods that are still in good condition to be eaten.  If you're going food shopping, check the meats and salad mixes and fruits for today or Saturday expiration dates.  This will save you some money as they will have coupons on them with money off.  It's okay to buy them and refrigerate or freeze them at home, they just have to be off the shelves in the store as of these dates.  Have a great day.

Its the end of the week, today is Thursday, but its my "Friday", Yeah!!  Using the weekend, since it's suppose to "storm" all weekend, I am taking the time to reflect and look at next week and the rest of the month on my planner.  Do I need to make some changes; what is "urgent important" and what is "most important"?  When you stop and look at things in this way, it allows you to take a different look at what you're doing and how things are getting done.  Stop and listen below the noise, take a moment to enjoy some of the things you miss day-to-day "multi-tasking" to try and "get it all" done.  Learn to enjoy the "little" things in life, they come a lot more frequently than the "bigger" things.

Lightning Safety Alert!
Did you know lightning is attracted to water.  Be careful outside when it is storming and remember this:
lLightning’s distance:  Count the time from the flash to the bang—for each 5 seconds between, the lightning is 1 mile away (activate lightning safety plan at count of 30 or 6 miles away) and don’t resume activities for 30 minutes—it’s called the 30-30 rule

Stop! Take a look at where you are.  Make sure you eat right, drink plenty of water to flush your system, stay out of the heat as much as possible.  It's important to take care of your self, its the little things that can make a small problem become a big problem.  Preventive maintenance for one's self and family can keep you healthy so that you can enjoy your summer.

Hand Washing

Believe it or not, hand washing is very, very, very important.  Yes, we carry hand sanitizer and it is posted in various places in the stores, offices, etc.  Hand sanitizer  is only a "temporary fix", you should still wash your hands with soap and water as soon as you can.

Most contamination occurs from hand to mouth.  Most surfaces harbor germs anywhere from 3 to 72 hours (like the cold and flu viruses) or sometimes as long as 7 days.  When you wash your hands you should suds them for up to 20 seconds or the happy birthday song 2 times then rinse your hands.  Washing your hands is essential to keeping you healthy.

NoroVirus In Jacksonville, FL

Wipe down, Wipe down and Wipe down again.

Use Clorox Wipes and wipe down all your light switches, telephone handles, computer keys, the mouse, microwave handles, door knobs, all the things that are touched day to day.

Most of the time a virus is spread by touching contaminated surfaces and then putting your hands in or to  your mouth.  Wash your hands with soap and water as often as you can (hand santizer is only a temporary fix).

Be safe, be careful and beware.
